APPLE Apple is a hardwood, that is mainly used for cooking/smoking. It's a very popular smoking wood that's in high demand! Can be used to cook/smoke beef, sausage, pork, lamb and poultry. PECAN Pecan has a high BTU rating, burns clean long and hot. Due to it's rarity in Southern California, I wouldn't suggest using it for heat or ambiance because it could be quite pricey! However, it's one of the best for cooking/smoking. Pecan can be used to cook/smoke beef, poultry, lamb, pork and fish. AVOCADO Avocado is a softer burning wood that's good to get hardwoods going or for a pleasant quick going fire. It's good for fireplaces and campfires. Cooking/smoking recommendations are beef, pork, poultry and fish. |
RED OAKOak has a high BTU rating, burns long and hot. It's well known for Santa Maria style cooking Tri-Tip. It can also be used for cooking/smoking beef, lamb and used for wood fire pizza ovens.
CHERRYCherry wood is a medium hardwood, that has a low smoke. Can be used for fireplace and great for campfires, because of its low smoke. It's a great cooking wood as well! I suggest cooking/smoking pork, poultry, beef and game birds.
PISTACHIO Pistachio wood is a hardwood, that is mainly used for cooking/smoking. It imparts a mild nutty flavor that goes well with red meat. Walnut Walnut is a medium density wood. It's good for fireplaces and campfires. Easier to get started and great to mix with other hardwoods. It can be used to cook/smoke Venison and beef. EUCALYPTUS Eucalyptus is a hardwood with a high BTU rating. I do not recommend using for cooking/smoking or wood fire pizza ovens. PINE Pine is a softwood that has a little crackle and pop to it. It can be used for fireplace or campfires. Do not use for cooking/smoking! |
